Co-owner, Broker, REALTOR®
Tom has been practicing real estate in the Triangle since 2002. He is one of Terra Nova’s top producers. Tom works with both sellers and buyers, with practice areas in residential resale, new construction, commercial, and investment properties. His consultative approach and extensive negotiating experience make him well-suited to guide clients through their real estate challenges, whether it is a first-time purchase or a complex commercial transaction. He prides himself on providing exceptional client service, and works primarily by referral. Since becoming a partner owner at Terra Nova, Tom has helped to grow the firm by recruiting some of the best brokers in the area, adding a downtown Durham office, and launching the Terra Nova Commercial division. He enjoys working with clients, but also mentoring newer brokers in the business of real estate. He currently serves as Broker-in-charge of Terra Nova’s Carrboro office.
In the Community
Tom keeps busy around town. He is on the Board of Directors of the Chapel Hill Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, where he also serves as the Chair of the Government Affairs Committee. Tom also serves on the Board of the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation, helping with their fundraising efforts. He is a member of the Orange Chatham Association of Realtors, and previously chaired the BIC Council at the association. Tom was recognized in 2015 as Realtor of the Year by OCHAR. He previously served on the Town of Carrboro Appearance and Historic Preservation Commission where he started the Historic Carrboro Plaque Program. He keeps track of his Fighting Irish as an Notre Dame Alumni Club member. Tom can often be found coaching youth soccer or basketball.
Tom joined Terra Nova in 2002 after a successful 11-year career in the corporate sales and marketing world, selling technology and consulting solutions to some of the country’s largest companies. He brings that professional background of strong negotiating skills, marketing experience, sales training, and interpersonal capabilities to serve his clients in real estate. Early-on in his working life, Tom sold elevators and escalators, and currently advises his family’s wine business. Tom holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame.
Outside the Office
When he’s not helping clients with their real estate issues, Tom can be found spending time with his family around Carrboro, where they live in a 100-year old house downtown. His two wonderful children are super active, so he often rushes around on the weekends cheering his daughter in a tennis match or watching his son’s soccer games from the sidelines. He enjoys mountain biking many of the Triangle area trails, and occasionally escapes to the NC mountains for more serious rides. Tom also trail runs, sails, skis, and hikes. He follows Notre Dame football and basketball, but shares his enthusiasm for college sports with the Tar Heels as well.
