(GREENSBORO, NC) --- REALTOR® Mariana Fiorentino of Terra Nova Global Properties in Carrborowas recently awarded the 2004 REALTOR ® Citizenship Award by the North Carolina Association of REALTORS ®. The award recognizes the extraordinary public service Fiorentino has demonstrated throughout her career and the impact her efforts have had in her community.

As a board member of Habitat for Humanity and the chair of the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce’s Council on Workforce Housing, Fiorentino has worked hard to improve affordable housing options in her community. She coordinated an affordable housing symposium in 2003 and wrote and published two brochures on affordable housing.

She has chaired and co-chaired the Downtown Development Commission of Carrboro since 1995 and is a member of the Orange Community Housing and Land Trust. She also serves on the Social Concerns Committee at the Community Church of Chapel Hill.


Earlier this month, Fiorentino was named Citizen of the Year by the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce and, in May, she was honored with the Village Pride Award by local radio station WCHL 1360.

Fiorentino is a member of the Chapel Hill Board of REALTORS®, where she was named REALTOR of the Year: she serves as chair of the Affordable Housing Committee. She also lends her expertise on the national level as a member of the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) Advisory Board of the National Association of REALTORS®.

Fiorentino is active on the political scene as well, having worked on nine campaigns, most recently for Erskine Bowles in 2002 and Al Gore in 2000.
